OUR PROGRAMS

We acknowledge children’s abilities in all aspects of their cognitive, language, physical, social and emotional development and we individually assess each child’s strengths and interests and enhance their learning through our “Holistic Excellence” ™ program and daily routines. Our programs are guided by the Early Years Learning Framework and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines.

Early Years Learning

The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF) is a national curriculum framework that outlines the standards for early childhood education in Australia. It was developed in consultation with state and territory governments, early childhood education and care sector, and academics. The EYLF emphasizes play-based learning, intentional teaching, and the integration of learning outcomes with cultural competence and social and emotional development. It covers the development of children from birth to five years and supports their transition to formal schooling.

What Are The 5 Outcomes Of EYLF?

  • OUTCOME 1: CHILDREN HAVE A STRONG SENSE OF IDENTITY
  • OUTCOME 2: CHILDREN ARE CONNECTED WITH AND CONTRIBUTE TO THEIR WORLD
  • OUTCOME 3: CHILDREN HAVE A STRONG SENSE OF WELLBEING
  • OUTCOME 4: CHILDREN ARE CONFIDENT AND INVOLVED LEARNERS
  • OUTCOME 5: CHILDREN ARE EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATORS

What Kindergarten means to our Early Childhood Teacher – Joanne

In our Kindergarten classroom, our philosophy is centred around providing a welcoming and nurturing space where the children are free to be themselves and develop holistically in preparation for formal schooling. Educators learn about the children’s interests and skills through careful observations, informal conversations, diagnostic testing, conversations with family members and most importantly by building strong, respectful relationships. Educators strive to provide premium education for children through carefully designed programs based on both the Early Years Learning Framework and the Kindergarten Learning Guidelines. Each child is valued and celebrated both as part of our classroom family and as individuals, unique to themselves. Our goal is to create a physical environment that creates an atmosphere that is welcoming, engaging and personal. We want the children to feel that their learning space is a continuation of their home.

Our classroom is designed to be reflective of the children’s interests, with a multitude of “learning areas” to provide supportive and individualised learning opportunities. The children are encouraged to explore the spaces in a holistic format – taking, adding, moving, interpretating resources as needed to support themselves in the immediate moment of learning. Our classroom atmosphere centres largely around the notion of connecting with our country, and so children are emersed in a natural environment with lots of trees, plants, sticks, stones and flowers that they can incorporate into their learning. We ensure there is lots of natural light and utilise the indoor/outdoor classroom option as frequently as possible. We emphasise the importance of caring for and ensuring a bright future for the land on which we live, embedding sustainable practices.
